Last spring, Romkatel supplied the equipment for 3 radiating systems destined
for the TV station in Avala, Serbia. These systems include FM antennas- 6
levels, 60kW, supplied by two 3 1/8” feeders, VHF antennas – 8 levels, 8kW RMS,
supplied by two 3 1/8” feeders and UHF antennas – 12 levels, 40kW RMS, supplied
by two 4 1/8” feeders.
Last year, Romkatel was chosen also to install the 10 feeders for these
radiating systems and the UHF system from the TV tower in Avala. The
installation of the VHF and FM systems was handled by the beneficiary and it was
made earlier this year.
Between 6-12 April 2010, Romkatel' s team returned to the Avala TV tower for the
final acceptance of the 3 radiating systems. This acceptance involved:
optimization and measurements of the 3 antenna systems, equal electrical phase
and connector installation for feeder cables , measurements and adjustments of
the combiner systems.
The Romkatel team verified the installation of the radiating system components
and also the geometrical display of the antennas on the tower, which influences
directly the radiation diagrams. There were made also adjustments of adaptation
for the antenna systems, which allow operation in wide frequency range.
Although, in the beginning, they will broadcast analogical TV signal, the VHF
and UHF systems are prepared also for DVB-T2.
In order to operate on half of an antenna, each of the 3 radiating systems are
supplied with 2 feeders, installed at the top of the 135 m tower. For a proper
operation, it was necessary to equalize the phases for each pair of feeders.
The FM system allows the broadcasting of 5 different radio stations through a
combiner system that can be extended in the future. After it was installed,
there were made measurements of all the operating parameters. At the moment, the
UHF system allows also broadcasting of 5 analogical TV stations and in the
future of 5 DVB-T2 multiplexes.
The tower and all of the 3 systems were officially inaugurated on 21st of April
2010.
